Phoenix Reisen to add MS Alvara to fleet in 2027

German cruise operator Phoenix Reisen has announced that the vessel currently known as Oceania Cruises' Insignia will join its fleet as the MS Alvara in November 2027. The 181-metre ship will undergo modifications and receive Phoenix's livery at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven in September 2027.

Managing director Benjamin Krumpen noted the ship is in “excellent technical condition” and already features a shore power connection. The vessel will carry approximately 700 guests per voyage. Ship management and hotel services will be provided by longtime partners BSM and Sea Chefs.

The MS Alvara is scheduled to begin operations with three introductory roundtrips from Hamburg to the Netherlands, the English Channel, and Scandinavia. A christening ceremony will be held in Hamburg on November 26, 2027, marking the 54th anniversary of Phoenix Reisen's founding.
