NBA: Jaden McDaniels extends with Timberwolves; Suns claim Drew Timme

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement with forward Jaden McDaniels on a one-year contract extension worth $40 million. The deal applies to the 2029-30 season, extending his tenure with the franchise through 2030. This move secures a key defensive pillar for Minnesota and provides long-term salary cap certainty as the team manages future contracts for stars like Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball.

In other NBA news, the Phoenix Suns have claimed forward Drew Timme off waivers from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Timme, a former Gonzaga standout, has signed a two-way contract with Phoenix to provide additional frontcourt depth. This move follows the Suns waiving Koby Brea and CJ Huntley to reshape their roster.

Ahead of their season opener against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Suns reported that starting center Mark Williams remains out due to shoulder surgery and is expected to return in early 2027. Luke Kennard is listed as questionable for the matchup.
