Phoenix Systems and Axelera AI partner on Edge AI for space and defense

Phoenix Systems and the Dutch company Axelera AI have entered into a strategic partnership to develop Edge AI and Edge-IoT technologies. The collaboration aims to integrate the Phoenix-RTOS real-time operating system with Axelera AI’s high-performance, energy-efficient AI accelerators.

The partnership focuses on enabling autonomous data processing directly on end devices, such as satellites, aircraft, and unmanned systems. By performing advanced analytical operations on-board, the technology reduces the need to transmit large volumes of data to ground infrastructure or the cloud, thereby decreasing latency and bandwidth requirements.

Targeted sectors for these solutions include the space industry (New Space), civil and military aviation, and defense. Kaja Swat, Vice President of Phoenix Systems, emphasized that building sovereign technological alliances in Europe is a strategic necessity for critical infrastructure, defense, and the space sector.
