Phong Nha - Ke Bang to become Vietnam provincial tourism area

Phong Nha - Ke Bang is set to be officially recognized as a provincial-level tourism area, covering more than 167,000 hectares. This designation recognizes achievements in resource management, conservation, infrastructure investment, and service quality, marking a new development phase for the region.

The area, which includes the entirety of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and parts of its buffer zones, holds significant geological, biological, and cultural value. It has been twice designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site (2003 and 2015) and was ranked as a special national relic in 2009. In 2025, it is expected to be listed as a transboundary natural heritage site alongside Laos's Hin Nam No National Park.

Between 2020 and 2025, the national park welcomed 3.5 million visitors, including approximately 489,000 international tourists, generating over 1,300 billion VND in tourism revenue. Currently, 19 tourism routes and sites are operational, utilizing various ecotourism business models.
