Photographer Chick Harrity dies at 87

Renowned photojournalist Chick Harrity has died at the age of 87. Over a career spanning several decades, Harrity documented major historical events for The Associated Press and U.S. News and World Report.

During the Vietnam War, Harrity captured one of the era's most iconic images: a baby girl lying in a box alongside her brother in Saigon. His career also included 33 years as a member of the White House press corps, where he covered eight U.S. presidents, ranging from Lyndon B. Johnson to George W. Bush, and documented Richard Nixon’s resignation.

Harrity began his professional journey in 1956 at a newspaper in Reading, Pennsylvania, before spending 26 years with the Associated Press. He later served as the chief photographer for U.S. News and World Report.
