Photographer Milko Marchetti Wins Guinness Wildlife Award for ‘Trapped Squirrel’ Photo

Italian wildlife photographer Milko Marchetti was named overall winner of the Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards (CWPA) in London, earning a top spot in the Guinness World Records book. The award‑winning image, dubbed the “trapped squirrel,” was captured at the Pantaleone farm in Bagnacavallo after four years of observing four local squirrels from a fixed photographic hut. Marchetti said the picture, in which the animal appears to be blocked, stood out among thousands of shots for its irony and uniqueness.

The photo has attracted worldwide attention, featuring in the latest Guinness book released in the United States and the United Kingdom, and prompting praise from viewers across the globe. Marchetti, who also runs photography courses and trips in the Po Delta region, described the win as an “immense emotion” and celebrated with family in a dinner of seafood and cake.
