Photographer Sandra Fernández Romero selected for global breast cancer art project

Galician photographer Sandra Fernández Romero, who works under the name Álex Ferro, has had her project “Mama mía” selected as one of ten global entries for the “One in Eight” exhibition. The project, which features images of 19 women and one man, explores a personal and transgressive perspective on breast cancer, a disease Fernández Romero was diagnosed with in 2010.

The exhibition is organized by the multinational Estée Lauder in collaboration with Fotografiska, an international photography institution. The initiative aims to use art as a medium for dialogue and to raise funds for breast cancer research. The traveling exhibition is currently being shown in Berlin and Stockholm, with plans to expand to other global locations.
