Photography exhibitions opening in Maputo and Faro

Two new photography exhibitions are opening in Maputo and Faro.

In Maputo, the Fundação Fernando Leite Couto will host “Momentos em que a natureza se revela” by Pedro Couto on September 2. The exhibition features a collection of images captured over several years across various African landscapes and wildlife areas. Couto, a self-taught photographer, focuses on spontaneous encounters and the interconnectedness of ecosystems, aiming to respect the natural rhythm of the subjects without interference.

In Faro, Galeria ARCO will inaugurate “Entre Mundos” by Kathryn Barnard on September 1. Curated by Joana Carmo and promoted by ALFA, the exhibition explores the boundaries between landscape, animal presence, and the human gaze. Barnard, originally from the United States and now residing in Tavira, uses light, scale, and instinct to capture fragments of the everyday, moving away from her previous commercial photography toward more personal, atmospheric works.
