Photography retrospective explores the charm of black and white cats

A photographer explores the enduring appeal of black and white patterned cats, known as 'kurobuchi' in Japanese, through a collection of images spanning five decades of photographic technology.

The collection includes scanned film photographs from 1976 taken with a Kodak pocket camera, as well as digital images from a 2-megapixel Fujifilm FinePix F402 in 2003 and a recent shot from an OM System OM-1 in 2023. The feature highlights the diverse facial expressions and personalities of different cats, such as 'Niya' and 'Daigoro,' demonstrating how the same coat pattern can result in vastly different appearances.
