Photography retrospectives announced for Salgado and Russo in Italy

Two significant photography exhibitions have been announced in Italy.

The Museo Civico di Bassano del Grappa will host a retrospective of Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado, featuring works from the Maison Européenne de la Photographie collection. Curated by Pascal Hoël, the exhibition is the first in Italy to cover Salgado’s entire body of work and is scheduled to run from October 24, 2026, to April 4, 2027.

In Rome, the Macro – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea is presenting ‘Marialba Russo. Sguardo rovescio’, the first major Italian museum retrospective dedicated to the Neapolitan photographer. Running from September 24, 2026, to January 31, 2027, the exhibition explores Russo’s work from the 1970s, focusing on the intersection of the individual and the collective through themes of ritual, social observation, and the human body.
