Photon Matrix launches automated laser system to target mosquitoes
A Chinese startup, Photon Matrix, has launched an automated laser system designed to detect and eliminate mosquitoes in flight. The device is capable of targeting up to 30 mosquitoes per second.
The system offers two versions: an indoor model priced at $988, which uses an invisible infrared beam to avoid disturbing sleep, and an outdoor model priced at $1,088, which utilizes a blue laser. The outdoor version features a 360-degree rotating base and can monitor an area of approximately six meters at a 90-degree angle, identifying insects as small as two millimeters.
While marketed as a chemical-free alternative for use in bedrooms, terraces, and campsites, concerns have been raised regarding the lack of comprehensive safety testing for the technology.
