Photovoltaic plant fire in Wels-Vogelweide

A fire broke out at a large photovoltaic plant in the Vogelweide district of Wels, Austria, on a Wednesday afternoon. The incident involved technical equipment, specifically affecting several distribution boxes.

The fire reportedly occurred during work related to the commissioning of the facility. Because the site was locked and no one present knew the access code, firefighters and technicians had to use ladders to enter the premises.

Emergency responders included the fire department, police, technicians from the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), and an energy supply company. After conducting inspections with thermal imaging cameras, authorities confirmed the situation was under control. No injuries were reported.
