Phu Quoc accelerates 21 projects for APEC 2027

Phu Quoc is accelerating 21 essential infrastructure projects to prepare for the APEC 2027 summit. These projects include a mix of 10 public investment initiatives and 11 projects utilizing public-private partnerships (PPP) or business investment. Key developments include the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, the APEC Convention Center, and various utility works such as waste and water treatment plants.

As of August 2026, land clearance efforts have reached approximately 62.79%, with over 7,408 billion VND paid in compensation to 3,148 households. The government aims to clear nearly 1,050 hectares of land to ensure construction can proceed on schedule. Major backbone projects include the APEC Boulevard, DT.975 road, and the development of Cua Can and Duong Dong 2 lakes.

Financial reports indicate that for the public investment group, the disbursement rate reached 45.68% of the plan by late August 2026. While several projects, including the airport and technical infrastructure undergrounding, are progressing well, officials emphasize that land recovery and resettlement remain critical challenges for the region.
