Phu Quoc accelerates multimodal infrastructure for APEC 2027
Phu Quoc is accelerating the development of multimodal infrastructure in preparation for hosting the APEC 2027 summit. The project aims to create an integrated transport axis combining roads, light rail, and air and sea connections to support both the summit and long-term regional growth.
A central component of this transformation is the DT975 corridor, which will connect Phu Quoc International Airport to the APEC Convention Centre. The 62-metre wide corridor will feature 10 lanes for motor vehicles and an integrated light rail transit (LRT) line running along the central median. The LRT route is designed to adapt to the island's terrain, consisting of 14.81 km at ground level, 0.78 km on elevated structures, and 2 km underground through the APEC core area.
The project includes six planned stations with designs inspired by various Vietnamese cultural identities, including Hanoi, Hue, and Saigon, as well as a dedicated underground APEC station. Additionally, the DT975 will lead into APEC Boulevard, a three-kilometre ceremonial route connecting to the convention complex and a multi-purpose theatre. The infrastructure design also emphasizes environmental integration through a continuous green corridor.
