Phú Quốc accelerates infrastructure and security for APEC 2027

Phú Quốc is undergoing a massive transformation in infrastructure and security to prepare for the APEC 2027 summit. An estimated 137 trillion VND is being invested across 21 key projects, including aviation, transportation, and urban services, to enhance the island's international connectivity and status.

Major construction milestones are underway, with the Phú Quốc International Airport terminal T2 reaching approximately 95% concrete completion. Other critical projects include an 18km light rail line, the APEC Convention and Exhibition Center, and a multi-purpose performance hall. Despite challenges such as heavy rainfall and labor shortages, construction continues around the clock to meet 2027 deadlines.

Parallel to physical development, authorities are implementing a comprehensive plan to establish Phú Quốc as a model for security, order, and urban civilization. This includes strengthening local security forces, implementing new self-management models, and enhancing digital transformation and public services to support its growth as a global tourism and service hub.
