Phu Quoc Airport expansion completes 3,300m runway in eight months
The expansion project of Phu Quoc International Airport is progressing rapidly, with the construction of a 3,300-meter runway completed in just eight months. The project includes the finished concrete surface of the second runway and the final calibration of aviation lighting, signage, and navigation equipment.
Aviation expert Trinh Nhu Long described the construction speed as “unprecedented.” The expansion aims to transform the airport into a major gateway capable of handling 24 million passengers per year in its first phase, with a projected capacity of 50 million passengers per year in the second phase. The first calibration flight is scheduled for July 27.
