Phu Quoc climbs to 9th on Expedia Island Hot List 2026, surpassing Fiji

Vietnam's Phu Quoc island, a special economic zone in An Giang province, was placed ninth on Expedia's Island Hot List 2026, moving ahead of Fiji. The ranking reflects rapid growth in global traveller interest for the island’s tropical scenery, high‑end yet affordable resort offerings, and competitive costs.

Expedia reported a 25% year‑over‑year rise in flight‑search queries for Phu Quoc and a 235% surge in social‑media mentions, far above the list’s average 20% increase. The platform awarded the island the “Best for Affordable Luxury” label, highlighting its appeal as a premium but reasonably priced holiday destination. Phu Quoc and the Philippines' Palawan were the only Southeast Asian islands in the top ten, which was led by Saint Lucia.

The heightened visibility is expected to boost tourism arrivals and reinforce the island’s status as a fast‑growing hub for high‑quality leisure travel in the region.
