Phu Quoc DT975 project to integrate 10 lanes and light rail for APEC 2027
The DT975 road project in Phu Quoc is being upgraded into a multimodal transport axis to support the APEC 2027 summit. The project features a 62-meter wide cross-section including 10 motor vehicle lanes and an integrated Light Rail Transit (LRT) system located in the central median.
The LRT line spans approximately 17.59 km, consisting of 14.81 km at ground level, 0.78 km elevated, and 2 km underground through the APEC core area. The route will include six stations, each designed with architectural themes inspired by different Vietnamese cultural regions, such as the Northwest, Hanoi Old Quarter, Hue, the Central Highlands, and Saigon.
This infrastructure aims to connect Phu Quoc International Airport directly to the APEC Convention Center. As of September 2026, technical trenches are approximately 65% complete, drainage systems and road foundations are near 50%, and construction on four bridges is over 55% complete.
