Phu Quoc environmental pollution case: 1,900 tons of concrete waste dumped
The An Giang Provincial Police Investigation Agency has initiated a criminal case regarding environmental pollution in Phu Quoc. The investigation centers on the dumping and land leveling of approximately 1,900 tons of industrial concrete residue.
Initial findings indicate that the Suoi Lon branch of CPCKBTNT2 Company failed to follow waste management regulations. The company reportedly stockpiled concrete waste on an open plot of land without waterproof flooring, roofing, or containment barriers.
Following the initial stockpiling, the company's director allegedly directed the transport of waste to two other plots in the Duong Dong and Cua Duong areas for land leveling. Police intercepted a transport operation on August 15, 2024, involving 13 truckloads of waste. Forensic analysis confirmed the material as common solid waste that caused environmental pollution.
