Phu Quoc Express high‑speed ferry Thăng Long forced to turn back on Vũng Tàu‑Côn Đảo route
On 1 August 2026 the high‑speed ferry Thăng Long, operated by Phu Quoc Express, departed Vũng Tàu for Côn Đảo carrying roughly 200 passengers. About an hour into the journey two of the vessel’s three main engines failed, leaving only one engine operational. The captain decided to return to Vũng Tàu, arriving around 10:15 a.m., and all passengers were safely disembarked.
Phu Quoc Express announced that it would refund all tickets through its agents and that passenger service on the Vũng Tàu‑Côn Đảo line would be suspended until the technical issue is resolved. The parallel Trần Đề‑Côn Đảo service continues to operate normally.
