Phu Quoc International Airport expansion nears structural milestones

Construction is accelerating at the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project, a key infrastructure initiative in Vietnam aimed at preparing for the 2027 APEC Summit. The new terminal, designed with the symbolic imagery of a ‘fire phoenix’ spreading its wings, is currently undergoing significant structural progress.

As of August 2026, the T2 terminal has completed approximately 95% of its reinforced concrete structure, 70% of its steel structure, and 80% of its masonry work. The complex roof system, which utilizes nearly 25,000 tons of steel to create a multi-layered feather-like design, is one of the project's most challenging technical components.

The first phase of the expansion is designed to handle an annual capacity of 24 million passengers. Once all subsequent phases are completed, the full terminal complex is projected to accommodate up to 50 million passengers per year.
