Phu Quoc International Airport undergoes major planning adjustments
The Ministry of Construction has approved an adjusted detailed planning scheme for Phu Quoc International Airport for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision extending to 2050. The new plan aims to develop a comprehensive aviation service ecosystem, integrating operations, aircraft maintenance, accommodation, commerce, and human resource training.
Key adjustments include increasing aircraft parking capacity. The area near Terminal T2 and existing parking is expected to accommodate approximately 42 positions, an increase of 12. Additionally, a new parking area with about 45 positions will be added between Terminal T1 and the VIP/general aviation area.
Technical and logistics facilities will also be expanded or relocated. The aircraft maintenance hangar in the north will increase from 24.7 hectares to 30.4 hectares. The aviation fuel supply facility will move to the north and expand in size, while the airline catering factory will be relocated to the southeast of Terminal T2 to be closer to passenger operations.
