Phu Quoc to become model unit for security and urban civilization

Phu Quoc is being developed into a model unit for security, order, and urban civilization. This initiative is driven by the island's selection to host the 2027 APEC Summit, a significant milestone for its international standing.

To support this development, authorities are implementing a “steel shield” approach to maintain peace and stability. Key measures include the deployment of smart AI camera systems for security monitoring, enhanced administrative management, and the activation of a “drug-free Phu Quoc” initiative starting July 15, 2025. The goal is to address challenges in land management, construction order, and urban aesthetics to ensure sustainable socio-economic and tourism growth.
