Phu Quoc unveils design of Vietnam's first light rail transit line
Vietnam's Sun Group has revealed the design of the country's first light‑rail transit (LRT) line on Phu Quoc island. The 18‑km route will feature six stations, each styled to represent a different cultural region of Vietnam—from the Northwest highlands and historic Hanoi to the ancient capital Huế, the Central Highlands, bustling Ho Chi Minh City, and finally the island itself.
The project, financed under a BOT arrangement, carries an estimated investment of nearly VND 9 trillion and is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2027. It will link Phu Quoc International Airport directly to the APEC Conference Center, cutting travel time to about 20 minutes.
