Vietnam law enforcement intensifies crackdown on traffic and land violations

Law enforcement agencies across Vietnam are conducting extensive operations to address traffic and land use violations. In Hanoi, traffic police processed nearly 50,400 violations between July 15 and August 14, 2026, including over 1,500 red-light infractions. AI camera systems played a significant role, detecting over 12,800 violations and issuing thousands of remote fines.

In Phu Tho, a 19-seat passenger vehicle was found carrying 67 people, resulting in expected fines totaling 124.5 million VND for the driver and the transport company. Meanwhile, in Quang Ninh, a man received an 18-month prison sentence for ‘resisting officers in the performance of their official duties’ after striking a police officer with his motorcycle.

Other enforcement actions include addressing illegal land use in Trung Gia, Hanoi, where 66 cases of agricultural and public land encroachment were processed. On highways, drivers were fined 13 million VND for stopping vehicles without proper warning signals. Additionally, authorities held training sessions for over 100 bus drivers to improve road safety and professional conduct.
