Phu Tho infrastructure: Landslide closures and bridge repair delays

Infrastructure projects and safety measures are underway in Phu Tho province following recent environmental challenges.

The Phu Tho Department of Construction has issued a notice to prohibit all traffic through a landslide site at km 10+950 on Provincial Road 316E in Xuan Dai commune. The landslide, caused by heavy rainfall between September 14 and 19, has blocked the road with soil and rocks. A 120-meter crack has been identified on the upper slope, posing ongoing safety risks. While cars and specialized vehicles must use designated detour routes via Provincial Roads 316H, 316C, or 316L, pedestrians and light vehicles are permitted to use a temporary path under local guidance.

Separately, repairs to the Song Lo Bridge in Doan Hung commune are reportedly behind schedule. The project, funded by UDIDECO with an estimated cost of over 74.2 billion VND, aims to reinforce the foundations of piers T1 through T8. Although work is progressing on several piers, construction at pier T5 has been hindered by strong river currents and irregular flooding. The provincial Department of Construction continues to monitor the site to ensure completion before the 2026 flood season.
