Vietnam police warn of bank account trading and livestream scams
Vietnamese authorities are issuing warnings regarding various fraudulent schemes involving bank accounts and digital scams. In Can Tho, police identified a case where an individual sold a bank account for 1 million VND, which subsequently facilitated transactions exceeding 100 billion VND in 2025. Cybersecurity experts note that criminals purchase these accounts to mask identities and complicate the tracking of money laundering, online gambling, and other illegal activities.
Additionally, police in Dong Nai have warned citizens about livestream scams. Fraudsters use live broadcasts of pearl opening to create a false sense of value and high profit potential, tricking victims into depositing money for pearls that are later impossible to redeem. Authorities advise the public to remain vigilant against promises of guaranteed high returns and to report suspicious transactions to the nearest police station or bank immediately.
