Phu Tho police prosecute electric bicycle rider in fatal accident

The Phu Tho Provincial Police have officially prosecuted Nguyen Thi Nhung, born in 2008, for violating road traffic safety regulations. The charges follow a fatal accident involving an electric bicycle.

On July 18, 2026, Nhung was operating an Espero brand electric bicycle on Provincial Road 305C in Phu Tho province. Investigators determined that due to a lack of observation and improper speed, Nhung collided with the rear of a pedestrian, V. T. D. (born 1938), who was walking in the same direction.

Following the collision, the victim sustained severe injuries and passed away on August 15, 2026. The investigation concluded that Nhung's actions violated speed and safety regulations. Consequently, authorities issued a criminal prosecution decision under Clause 1, Article 260 of the Penal Code.
