Phu Tho police prosecute individual for video game copyright infringement

Phu Tho Provincial Police have initiated legal proceedings against Huynh Viet Thanh, born in 2000, for infringing upon the copyright of the video game ‘Silkroad Origin’.

Investigations revealed that Thanh copied and modified the game, which is authorized for distribution in Vietnam by VTC Digital Content Technology Company. He rebranded the unauthorized version as ‘VinSro Silkroad’ and operated it through a dedicated website. Through these illegal activities, Thanh reportedly earned an illicit profit of over 97 million VND.

Verification by the Vietnam Copyright Protection Center confirmed the similarities between the unauthorized version and the original game. The case is being processed under Article 225 of the Penal Code regarding the infringement of copyright and related rights.
