Phuket construction site investigation after fatal motorcycle accident

A 19-year-old food delivery driver, identified as Teerapat, a student from a technical college in Thalang, has died following a motorcycle accident in Wichit, Phuket. The accident occurred on Chao Fah Tawan Tok Road when the victim's motorcycle fell into an unsecured drainage shaft.

Witnesses and surveillance footage captured the incident, which resulted in the victim being thrown onto the road. Although emergency responders transported him to Dibuk Hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries. The Phuket Highway District Office has expressed condolences to the family.

Authorities are investigating the road construction contractor responsible for the site. Police are examining whether the drainage shaft was insufficiently secured, which could lead to charges of negligent conduct resulting in death under Thai law. In response to the incident, the Phuket Highway District Office has covered the drainage pits and pledged to implement stricter safety measures at construction sites.
