Phuoc Khanh Bridge undergoes load testing for expressway completion

Load testing has commenced on the Phuoc Khanh Bridge, the final major component required to complete the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway. The bridge, which spans the Long Tau River to connect Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, is undergoing critical structural assessments to ensure stability and load-bearing capacity.

On September 25, contractors began testing the approach bridges using 12 to 16 vehicles weighing approximately 25 tons each. Testing for the main bridge structure is scheduled to follow, utilizing up to 24 vehicles to reach a total load of 400 to 600 tons. These tests include both static loading to measure structural displacement and dynamic loading to record vibrations.

The 57.8km expressway project represents a total investment of over 29,586 billion VND. Once fully operational, the route is expected to significantly reduce travel times between the Southwestern and Eastern regions of Vietnam, providing a direct link to Long Thanh Airport and the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port complex without requiring transit through central Ho Chi Minh City.
