Phuong My Chi promotes Khmer culture through new music project

Singer Phuong My Chi recently held a listening party in Ho Chi Minh City to introduce her new music project, ‘Dan Choi Dan Ca’. The event, attended by various artists including DTAP and Huynh Lap, highlighted her goal of integrating traditional Vietnamese and Khmer cultural elements into modern music to spark curiosity about heritage among younger audiences.

Her music video for ‘Thien Duong Voi Nguoi Thuong’ has gained attention for showcasing scenic locations in the Mekong Delta, which are becoming popular destinations for young travelers. Featured locations include Ao Ba Om, a 15-hectare pond surrounded by ancient trees, and the Tra Su Melaleuca Forest in An Giang province, known for its diverse ecosystem and seasonal flooding landscapes.

During the event, interactions between Phuong My Chi and actor Bao Dinh, who appeared alongside her in the music video, also drew public interest. The singer noted that the musical direction for her project evolved naturally as her team incorporated Khmer melodies into pop arrangements.
