Physical activity and resistance training linked to improved cardiovascular health
Health experts and the World Health Organization emphasize the critical role of regular physical activity in preventing chronic diseases. Experts highlight that consistent movement can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, and osteoporosis.
Dr. Mert Ataş, a physical therapy and rehabilitation specialist, recommends approximately 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity five days a week. He suggests integrating movement into daily life through small changes, such as using stairs instead of elevators, getting off public transport early, or taking family walks after dinner.
In addition to walking, resistance training is being recognized for its systemic benefits. Sports instructor Namık Kemal İşcan notes that weight training should not be viewed solely as a tool for muscle growth. Properly planned resistance exercises support the circulatory, metabolic, and energy systems, positively impacting blood pressure, blood sugar control, and lipid profiles.
