Physical activity linked to improved cognitive performance and creativity

Scientific research and local initiatives highlight the significant link between regular physical activity, sleep quality, and cognitive performance. Studies from Stanford University and Santa Clara University indicate that movement, such as walking or using a treadmill, can enhance creativity. Participants in these studies produced more innovative ideas following at least 30 minutes of activity compared to those who remained seated.

While movement may not provide immediate benefits for pure concentration tasks, experts note that activities like cycling can promote the growth of the hippocampus. A twelve-week fitness program has been shown to increase the production of Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein essential for nerve cell networking. Experts emphasize that even moderate physical exertion can sustainably improve brain function and help prevent dementia.
