Physical AI Robots Transform Manufacturing and Logistics

AI is moving from screen‑based tools to physical agents that act in factories and warehouses. At CES 2026, Boston Dynamics and Hyundai showcased the Atlas humanoid robot, which can walk, balance, handle cargo and even swap its own battery, with mass production slated for 2028.

BMW has already deployed a Figure‑brand humanoid robot on its Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, where it handles sheet‑metal parts for welding shifts of ten hours a day, processing over 90,000 parts and contributing to the production of more than 3 million vehicles. The company plans to roll out similar robots across European plants from 2026.

Amazon announced that its warehouse robot fleet reached one million units in 2025, with the milestone robot delivered to a Japanese logistics hub, underscoring the rapid scaling of physical AI in logistics.
