Physical exercise benefits cardiovascular and mental health
Medical experts highlight the therapeutic benefits of physical movement for both mental and cardiovascular health. Cardiologist Daniel López Rosetti notes that exercise serves as a fundamental tool for addressing mental health issues, such as anxiety and sadness, which have increased due to modern stress.
López Rosetti explains that the biological benefits for the brain are not immediate, typically requiring an adaptation period of one to two months. For individuals dealing with depression, noticeable improvements often occur within four to eight weeks. He emphasizes that both aerobic activities, such as brisk walking or jogging, and resistance training, such as weightlifting, offer equivalent benefits for treating depressive symptoms.
To achieve these medical results, the cardiologist recommends following World Health Organization standards, which suggest approximately 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week, such as 30 minutes of brisk walking five times a week. Additionally, strength training is recognized not only for muscle and bone health but also as an effective form of cardiovascular exercise.
