Physical inactivity linked to constipation despite high fiber intake
Health expert and influencer dr. Tirta Mandira Hudhi has noted that consuming sufficient fruits and vegetables may not be enough to prevent constipation if an individual leads a sedentary lifestyle.
According to dr. Tirta, physical activity is essential for maintaining intestinal peristalsis, which is the muscle contraction that moves food and waste through the digestive tract. A lack of movement can slow down these contractions, increasing the risk of difficulty with bowel movements even when fiber intake is adequate.
In addition to physical activity, dr. Tirta suggested that individuals experiencing digestive issues should also evaluate their weight and obesity levels as part of their overall digestive health assessment.
