Physical media importance grows amid streaming challenges

The rise of streaming services has fundamentally changed how consumers access media, but recent trends suggest a growing need for physical media ownership. While streaming was initially an affordable alternative to cable, frequent price increases and the fragmentation of content across multiple platforms have increased costs and consumer frustration.

Issues regarding digital ownership have also emerged. Streaming platforms have been known to permanently remove shows and movies based on engagement levels. Furthermore, digital purchases do not guarantee permanent access; for example, when Redbox ceased operations, customers lost access to movies purchased through its digital storefront.
