Physician Gassi Paola de Souza Mazia found dead in Maringá

Gassi Paola de Souza Mazia, a 37-year-old physician, was found dead in an apartment in Maringá, Paraná, on Saturday, October 5. The case is being investigated as a potential femicide.

Mazia worked for the public health system at the Nova Aliança Basic Health Unit in Sarandi. The Sarandi City Hall released a statement expressing grief and highlighting her professional commitment to the community.

Reports indicate that her partner, 25-year-old João Vitor Domingues Romeiro, was arrested in flagrante. An 8-month-old baby was found in the apartment at the time the body was discovered. While initial reports suggest the partner was located in Mandaguari with injuries, official police confirmation regarding the exact circumstances and the definitive criminal classification is pending the results of the investigation.
