Physician Liviu Bălulescu dismissed from ImunoMedica clinic
Liviu Bălulescu, a physician formerly employed at the ImunoMedica clinic, has been dismissed following controversial statements regarding cancer and oncologists. Bălulescu reportedly referred to oncologists as ‘criminals,’ comparing them to bankers.
The dismissal follows a journalistic investigation involving a patient with leukemia and metastases who opted for alternative treatments at ImunoMedica instead of chemotherapy. Under Bălulescu’s guidance, the patient underwent 13 days of infusions containing substances such as curcumin and vitamin C, at a daily cost of between 1,500 and 1,700 lei.
The College of Physicians in Bucharest has launched a disciplinary investigation into the matter. Cătălina Poiană, president of the College, emphasized the necessity of adhering to evidence-based medicine. ImunoMedica management has confirmed the dismissal and distanced the clinic from Bălulescu’s practices.
