India: PM Modi announces AI skilling and free exam coaching

During India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced several major national initiatives aimed at technological advancement and social empowerment. Key among these is a plan to provide artificial intelligence (AI) skill training to one crore youth over the next year to bolster India’s position in the global digital economy.

To address educational challenges and the financial burden of private coaching, the government will launch a free online coaching network for various competitive examinations. Additionally, a nationwide sports talent hunt will be conducted for children aged 5 to 15 to expand India’s presence in diverse Olympic disciplines. The Prime Minister also announced the creation of a vibrant Civil Defence network to protect critical infrastructure against modern warfare threats.

In terms of social and economic goals, Modi set a target to empower 6 crore women through the Lakhpati Didi scheme and called for political support to implement a 33% reservation for women in legislatures. Looking toward 2047, the government aims to generate 100 gigawatts of nuclear energy.

International leaders, including those from Israel, Russia, France, and the United States, extended greetings, reaffirming strong bilateral ties and strategic partnerships with India.
