Xbox to fund Hideo Kojima's Physint at a lower cost than Sony

Industry reports have clarified the financial details surrounding Physint, the upcoming action-espionage title from Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions. Following the project's transition from Sony to Microsoft, widespread rumors suggested a production budget of approximately $400 million.

However, multiple industry journalists, including Jason Schreier of Bloomberg and Jez Corden of Windows Central, have disputed this figure. They report that Microsoft is paying a “fraction” of the amount originally discussed with Sony. Sources suggest the $400 million figure may have been the amount Sony was potentially responsible for before canceling the deal due to budget overruns and missed deadlines.

The new agreement with Xbox reportedly includes not only the development of Physint but also rights for film and television adaptations, as well as improved terms for Kojima's other project, OD. While the exact budget for the Xbox-backed version remains undisclosed, insiders indicate it is significantly lower than the initial $400 million estimate.
