Pi Network releases three major developer upgrades

Pi Network has released three major upgrades aimed at enhancing its ecosystem for application developers. The new capabilities include local storage, access to app-specific staking data, and file and video sharing functionality.

Through the new local storage feature, whitelisted Pi Browser apps can store certain information, such as user preferences and session data, directly on a user’s device. This is intended to reduce backend infrastructure costs and complexity for developers. Additionally, a new Staking Data API allows developers to view how much Pi a user has staked specifically for their application, enabling features tailored to committed supporters. The Pi.shareFile tool enables apps to utilize native phone functionality for sharing images, videos, and files.

To support these technical updates, the Pi Core Team has overhauled its developer documentation into a centralized resource to streamline the onboarding and launching process. Alongside these technical developments, the $PI token has seen a 5% price increase over the last month, following a broader recovery in the cryptocurrency market, though it remains significantly lower than its value from one year ago.
