Pi Network targets September 15 for Protocol 27 upgrade
Pi Network is preparing for its Protocol 27 Mainnet upgrade, which is tentatively targeted for activation on September 15, 2026. The upgrade entered Testnet 1 on August 21 following the successful Mainnet transition of Protocol 26.
Protocol 27 is expected to enhance the network's infrastructure by improving smart contract authentication, RPC infrastructure, and automated market maker liquidity pools. These technical modifications aim to provide developers with more robust foundations for exchanges, payments, and decentralized applications.
Recent developments from the Pi Core Team also include the introduction of local application storage, staking data access, and native file-sharing tools. While these features aim to increase utility, market analysts note that token unlocks and thin exchange liquidity may impact the price performance following the upgrade.
