Pi Network's $100M Venture Fund Stays Opaque While Launchpad Overhaul Seeks Token Revival

Pi Network announced a $100 million ecosystem fund in May 2025, aiming to back startups that would give real‑world utility to its PI token. The fund, financed from the network’s token reserves and denominated partly in PI tokens and U.S. dollars, has disclosed only a single investment—robotics software startup OpenMind—leaving the size, composition and governance of the fund largely unclear.

In 2026 the project rolled out updates to its Pi Launchpad, simplifying participation after a test token launch on Pi Day 2026 that attracted over 478,000 users. A second test token, “SLICE,” is being trialed on Testnet. The new model requires projects to have working products before issuing native tokens, an effort to create genuine utility for PI amid a steep price decline from a $2.99 peak in early 2025 to around $0.13 in mid‑2026.
