Piacenza and Edison Next partner for smart city and lighting upgrades

The Municipality of Piacenza and Edison Next have initiated a project financing agreement to modernize urban infrastructure. The plan focuses on upgrading public lighting, enhancing urban security through video surveillance, and improving energy efficiency in municipal buildings and schools.

Work on public lighting is scheduled to begin in December, with a goal of replacing existing equipment to achieve an estimated 58% reduction in energy consumption. The project covers over 18,000 light points and includes the installation of adaptive lighting systems that adjust based on traffic and weather conditions.

Additional smart city developments include the installation of new surveillance cameras by spring, smart parking systems, electric vehicle charging stations, and meteorological sensors. The initiative also aims to improve urban mobility and digital service management through an integrated platform.
