Piacenza launches Home Visiting service for new parents
The Municipality of Piacenza and the local health authority (Ausl) have signed a protocol to launch ‘Home Visiting’, a new service designed to support new parents. The initiative targets families in their final trimester of pregnancy or those with children up to six months old.
In collaboration with Casa Morgana, the program utilizes a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, socio-educational specialists, and the local Family Center. The service consists of a cycle of approximately ten home visits, each lasting two hours, led by specialized educators. The goal is to help parents navigate the challenges and insecurities of early parenthood while promoting autonomy and awareness of available local services.
Access to the program can be initiated through referrals from hospital midwives or psychologists, the Family Center, or social workers from the municipality’s Minors Unit. Parents may also request the service directly through information desks.
