Piacenza to host bicycle tour of textile art heritage

Piacenza will host a bicycle tour titled ‘Il filo della storia, il filo del racconto’ on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The initiative, titled ‘Pedalare lungo trame, orditi, filati preziosi e nodi d’arte’, aims to showcase the city's textile heritage through a dynamic and eco-friendly itinerary.

The project is a collaboration between Opera Pia Alberoni, the Diocese of Piacenza Bobbio, the Scalabrini Museum, and Galleria Malair, with support from the Emilia-Romagna Region. Participants will be guided by the Velòlento Association.

The morning itinerary, ‘Per filo e per segno’, focuses on the Piacenza Cathedral and the Scalabrini Missionary headquarters to explore weaving techniques and historical embroidery. The afternoon tour, ‘Trame, orditi e nodi d’arte’, visits the home museum of Achille Armani to view antique carpets and the Alberoni Gallery to see significant 16th and 17th-century tapestries.
