Piala Emas Raja-Raja to introduce new Malay Football Awards

The 104th edition of the Piala Emas Raja-Raja (PERR) will introduce the Anugerah Bola Sepak Melayu for the first time. This initiative aims to modernize the tournament and recognize excellence in the sport.

PBMM President Mohd Firdaus Mohamed stated that the award categories are currently being finalized. Proposed categories include Best Forward, Best Goalkeeper, and Best Management. The introduction of these awards was suggested by the Patron of PBMM and Governor of Melaka, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, to revitalize the competition.

In a move to align with modern football developments, the tournament is also expanding its participation. For this edition, guest teams and clubs such as Penang Flex, UM Damansara, and the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) have been invited. This approach accounts for the privatization of several state teams and seeks to include active clubs that meet the necessary registration and regulatory requirements.
