Pićan begins construction of new recycling center

The Municipality of Pićan has commenced construction of its own recycling center located in the Pićan South Entrepreneurial Zone. The project, which has been in development since 2021, is funded by 449,999.99 euros in non-refundable grants from the Just Transition Fund.

Construction began in late August following a contract signed in July with the contractor Gradnja Cezare from Labin. Although the municipality is not legally required to maintain its own facility based on its population size, local authorities initiated the project to replace the previous temporary system of mobile recycling units that operated only twice a year.

The new facility aims to prevent illegal waste disposal in nature and provide residents with year-round, free disposal of bulky waste. Once completed, the center will be managed in cooperation with the local utility company, 1. maj Labin.
